Manufacturing Automation Engineer
Our client is seeking an experienced and driven Manufacturing Automation Engineer to support automation initiatives at a leading industrial manufacturing facility. In this role, you will lead the implementation, optimization, and maintenance of automated systems that drive efficiency, quality, and innovation on the production floor.
Client Details
Our client specializes in designing and manufacturing high-reliability power and signal connectors, interconnection systems, and value-added assemblies for industrial applications. Their Endicott facility focuses on producing power connectors, cable assemblies, harness assemblies, and junction boxes, serving markets such as heavy equipment, rail mass transit, and power infrastructure. The site also offers advanced manufacturing capabilities, including CNC machining, injection molding, stamping, soldering, crimping, and electrical testing.
Description
Key Responsibilities:
Design, develop, and implement automation solutions to improve manufacturing processes.
Program and troubleshoot PLCs, HMIs, robotics, and motion control systems.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to evaluate existing processes and identify opportunities for automation or enhancement.
Support production by resolving automation-related issues and maintaining equipment reliability.
Assist with the integration of new automation equipment, including specifying, sourcing, and coordinating with vendors.
Ensure compliance with safety, quality, and regulatory standards throughout all automation projects.
Participate in root cause analysis and continuous improvement initiatives (Lean, Six Sigma, etc.).
Document system changes, maintenance schedules, and technical procedures.
Profile
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Automation Engineering, or a related field.
3-7 years of experience in a manufacturing automation or industrial controls role.
Proficiency in PLC programming (Rockwell/Allen-Bradley preferred), HMI development, and industrial networking.
Experience with robotics integration and vision systems is a strong plus.
Familiarity with CAD software (AutoCAD, SolidWorks) for layout and design work.
Understanding of manufacturing processes such as machining, assembly, and testing.
Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills.
Excellent communication and project management abilities.
