Quality Engineer - Aerospace - Torrington, CT
My client, a leading aerospace manufacturer is seeking a Quality Engineer to drive continuous improvement, process validation, and quality assurance for precision-engineered aerospace and defense components. This role involves FAIR, PPAP, root cause analysis (RCCA), and special process qualifications to ensure compliance with AS9100 and ISO 9001:2015 standards.

My client is an aerospace manufacturer is at the forefront of precision machining for commercial and military aircraft, missile systems, and space programs. They partner with leading OEMs and Tier I suppliers, leveraging Industry 4.0, lean manufacturing, and advanced metrology to produce mission-critical components.
Description
The key responsibilities of the Quality Engineer are:
- Process Validation & Quality Assurance - Lead FAIR (AS9102), PPAP, and GR&R studies to optimize quality processes.
- Root Cause Analysis (RCCA) & Continuous Improvement - Drive cost reduction initiatives, Six Sigma projects, and Kaizen events to enhance efficiency.
- Manufacturing & Inspection Collaboration - Work with engineering, production, and metrology teams to create and refine inspection method sheets.
- Regulatory & Customer Compliance - Ensure AS9100 and ISO 9001:2015 compliance while aligning with Pratt & Whitney and aerospace industry standards.
- Data-Driven Decision Making - Utilize SPC monitoring, GD&T, and statistical analysis to improve product quality.
Profile
The succesful Quality Engineer will:
- Bachelor's degree in mechanical, industrial, or manufacturing engineering preferred (or Associate's degree with 3+ years of experience).
- Expertise in GD&T, aerospace QMS requirements, and inspection processes.
- Strong problem-solving skills in RCCA, MRB, and cost reduction initiatives.
- Experience with AS9102 FAIR, PPAP, and metrology tools (PC-DMIS, GOM software) a plus.
- Proficiency in MS Office, VBA, or Python is an added advantage.
