We are working with an Optical Manufacturing Company in their search for a Field Service Engineer to join their growing Rochester, NY plant! This role will report up into the Field Service Engineer and join a team of 8 engineers. This role will be traveling 50% of the time and on site the other 50%. The ideal candidate will have 2+ years in Optical or Laser System Design experience, ability to travel, and will have a degree in a scientific related field. Description

The Field Service Engineer - Optical Experience Required will be responsible for the following:

• Responsible for a wide range of duties related to our laser systems in scientific and industrial applications with partners in bio-photonics, industrial metrology, and quantum technology industries. This hands-on work is direct customer support both in the North American Headquarters office and at customer sites.
• Field service of existing laser systems at existing customer sites.
• Installation of new laser systems at customer locations; regular travel will be required.
• Service and repair of laser systems in-house as needed.
• Technical and application troubleshooting with both internal and external customers.
• Periodic travel to company headquarters for training and product orientation

Profile

The ideal Field Service Engineer - Optical Experience Required will have the following qualifications:

• Physics, electrical engineering, chemistry, or a related scientific degree.
• Significant experience and skill in hands-on work with cw and/or ultrafast lasers and optical techniques.
• Familiarity with basic laboratory equipment, including multimeters, oscilloscopes, power supplies, signal generators
• Must be able to work effectively with multidisciplinary teams.
• Ability to remain calm in high-pressure situations.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills as well as an outgoing personality and a desire to interact with people.
• Must be able to lift and move 50 pounds.
• Unrestricted right to work in United States required
• Practical experience installing and aligning optical systems.
• Understanding of optical principles and design.
• Knowledge of laser system design.
• Ability to travel 50% of the time and be on site the other 50%

Job Offer

The successful Field Service Engineer - Optical Experience Required will be rewarded with the following:
