Description
The Estimator is responsible for:
- Reporting into the VP of Business Development
- Supporting junior staff
- Analyzing construction plans and other documentation to prepare time, cost, materials, and labor estimates
- Preparing estimates for use in selecting vendors or subcontractors
- Consulting with clients, subcontractors, vendors and personnel in other departments to discuss and formulate estimates and resolve issues
- Collaborating with engineers, architects, owners and subcontractors on changes and adjustments to cost estimates
- Reading and analyzing scopes of work
- Reviewing RFI's and Addendums
- Attending any necessary pre-construction meetings
- Presenting estimates to clients/owners
- Cold calling people for pricing, selling themselves/ the company, client facing
Profile
The right Estimator has the following qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Building Construction Technology, or related field preferred
- 5+ Years of experience estimating in the construction industry (must have)
- Ideally for Federal Government projects, but open to Commercial GC background
- Strong Communication skills, potential sales background - client facing
- Ability to plan, organize, and coordinate multiple projects
- Strong literacy of MS Word and Excel
- Working understanding of Timberline/Sage software
- Open minded, has experience with various trades
- Exceptional interpersonal communication, presentation, and writing skills
- Must be able to comprehend and communicate information that is technical in nature
- Effective analytical and problem solving skills
- Ability to prioritize workload and meet deadlines
- Strong attention to detail
