Our client is seeking an experienced Manufacturing Engineer to optimize and oversee machining and assembly processes within our Machine Shop and Assembly Shop. This role involves developing efficient manufacturing workflows, programming CNC machines, selecting appropriate tooling, and ensuring cost-effective production methods.

Description



Responsibilities:

  • Design and refine manufacturing processes to support machining and electro-mechanical assembly operations.
  • Develop CNC machining programs for turning, milling, grinding, and gear shaping applications.
  • Identify and recommend appropriate tooling solutions for machining operations.
  • Analyze and improve current manufacturing methods to enhance efficiency and maintain modern capabilities.
  • Conduct job cost evaluations to ensure cost-effective production.
  • Perform time and motion studies to improve workflow efficiency.
  • Assess, justify, and recommend capital equipment purchases, leading team efforts for research and analysis.
  • Lead long-term planning initiatives focused on future projects and emerging technologies.
  • Provide mentorship and technical guidance to engineering and production teams.
  • Collaborate with design engineers to evaluate new product designs for manufacturability.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve production challenges in a timely manner.
  • Offer technical support to external machining and assembly suppliers when needed.
  • Stay up to date with the latest advancements in manufacturing technology to drive efficiency.
  • Work closely with internal teams and external vendors to support operational needs.

Profile



Qualifications:

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Industrial, or Manufacturing Engineering from an ABET-accredited institution.


Experience & Skills:

  • 8+ years of relevant experience in a production-focused manufacturing setting.
  • Strong expertise in designing jigs, fixtures, and tooling using SolidWorks or equivalent 3D CAD software.
  • Extensive experience programming CNC machines using Mastercam or similar CAM software.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite for documentation, spreadsheets, and databases.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop machining processes for aluminum, ductile castings, and alloy steels.
  • In-depth understanding of inspection methods, including CMMs and standard gages.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing techniques, fabrication, heat treatment, welding, and machining operations.
  • Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing principles and SPC methodologies.
  • Strong understanding of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T).
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • High attention to detail and commitment to quality.
  • Strong initiative, integrity, and ability to work collaboratively within a team.
  • Solid mechanical aptitude with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Commitment to fostering a positive and professional work environment.
  • Adherence to safety standards and company policies.
