Description



Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and refine manufacturing processes to support machine and assembly shop functions, ensuring high efficiency and quality.

  • Create and optimize CNC programs for turning, milling, grinding, and gear cutting operations using industry-standard CAM software.

  • Specify and procure appropriate tooling packages for a wide range of machine shop applications.

  • Assess current manufacturing methodologies and implement modernized practices to improve productivity and quality.

  • Conduct time studies and cost analysis to evaluate the efficiency and cost-effectiveness of production strategies.

  • Lead the evaluation, justification, and integration of capital equipment, preparing detailed cost-benefit assessments.

  • Drive long-term manufacturing strategy by identifying and incorporating future-focused technologies.

  • Provide mentorship and technical guidance to junior engineering staff and production teams.

  • Collaborate with design engineers to review product designs for manufacturability and process integration.

  • Troubleshoot manufacturing issues on the production floor and offer timely, effective solutions.

  • Provide technical support to external vendors and manufacturing partners as needed.

  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of emerging technologies and industry best practices.

  • Communicate effectively with cross-functional teams and external suppliers to support ongoing manufacturing activities.

Profile



Qualifications:

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, or Industrial Engineering from an accredited institution (ABET preferred).

Experience & Skills:

  • 5+ years of hands-on experience in a production or high-precision manufacturing setting.

  • Advanced proficiency with 3D CAD software such as SolidWorks for fixture and tooling design.

  • Skilled in creating CNC programs using software like Mastercam or similar platforms.

  • Strong command of Microsoft Office tools for documentation, reporting, and data management.

  • Demonstrated experience machining aluminum and ductile castings, as well as alloy steels.

  • Familiar with inspection tools and methods including CMM and precision gauges.

  • Expertise in manufacturing technologies such as heat treatment, welding, fabrication, and machining.

  • Solid understanding of GD&T principles, Lean Manufacturing methodologies, and Statistical Process Control (SPC).

  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills.

  • Strong attention to detail, with a proactive and collaborative work style.

  • Capable of managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Work Environment & Physical Demands:

  • Primarily office-based with regular visits to the shop floor.

  • Requires the ability to stand, sit, or walk for prolonged periods.

  • Must be comfortable using computers, telephones, and standard office equipment.

  • Exposure to manufacturing environments where PPE (e.g., safety glasses and hearing protection) is required.
