Sr. Electrical Design Engineer - New Britain, CT
My client is seeking an experienced and motivated Sr. Electrical Design Engineer to design, develop, and test electrical systems while ensuring seamless integration into product solutions. This role involves collaborating with cross-functional teams, liaising with UL and regulatory agencies, and staying ahead of industry trends to deliver cost-effective, compliant solutions.

Description
Responsibilities:
- Product Development: Partner with customer product teams to design electrical products for production by the manufacturing team.
- Documentation: Prepare detailed documentation, including schematics, control panel layouts, bills of materials, and design specs as needed.
- Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams-sales engineers, customer engineers, and production teams-to integrate electrical product solutions smoothly.
- Prototyping: Collaborate with customers on design and with production teams to ensure timely, cost-effective product solutions.
- Regulatory Compliance: Ensure electrical designs meet NEC industry standards, UL, and other regulatory requirements.
- Continuous Improvement: Keep up with industry trends and innovations to integrate advanced technologies into product designs.
Profile
Ideal Candidate:
- A Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, with a preference for additional Mechanical Engineering qualifications.
- Demonstrated experience in electrical system design, focusing on power distribution and controls in the Alternative Energy and Automation sectors.
- Expertise in CAD tools for creating schematics and layouts, particularly with AutoCAD Electrical, and experience with manufacturing MRP systems such as Epicor or similar.
- Deep knowledge of electrical systems, components, NEC codes, and UL standards.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively within a team.
- Familiarity with UL508A, UL698A, and other relevant standards, serving as the primary liaison with UL and other regulatory agencies to advance certifications.
- Experience in developing pre-engineered solutions for sales proposals to drive new business acquisition.
