Sr Quality Engineer | Aerospace
This role is a hands-on Quality Engineer position supporting precision‑machined aerospace and industrial components, with a focus on metrology, APQP/PPAP, AS9100 compliance, and structured problem solving. Description
- Support quality assurance activities for precision‑machined aerospace and industrial components.
- Lead metrology and inspection planning, including CMM methods, GD&T interpretation, and measurement system development.
- Develop FMEAs, control plans, PPAP documentation, and process flow diagrams for new and existing products.
- Maintain compliance with ISO 9001 and AS9100 requirements while supporting internal, customer, and third‑party audits.
- Lead root cause investigations using 8D, 5‑Why, and similar structured problem‑solving tools.
- Drive corrective and preventive actions and support capability improvements such as SPC and Cp/Cpk.
- Communicate with customers on quality issues, quality plans, and corrective action progress.
- Partner with suppliers on audits, incoming quality, and process improvement initiatives.
- Collaborate with engineering and production to strengthen process controls and reduce variation across machining operations.
Profile
- Brings 5+ years of quality engineering experience within precision machining, aerospace, or defense manufacturing.
- Strong capability in APQP, PPAP, FMEA, control plans, and inspection planning.
- Skilled in metrology with hands‑on CMM experience and a solid understanding of GD&T per ASME Y14.5.
- Comfortable leading structured problem solving using 8D, 5‑Why, and root cause analysis tools.
- Experienced with SPC, capability studies, GR&R, and data‑driven quality improvement.
- Able to work closely with engineering, production, customers, and suppliers to resolve issues and improve processes.
- Detail‑oriented, analytical, and proactive, with strong communication skills and the ability to represent the quality function effectively.
Job Offer
- Salary range of $90,000-$110,000, with flexibility up to $115,000-$120,000 for a strong technical fit.
