MEP Estimator - Public Construction
We're looking for an experienced MEP Estimator to join a leading construction firm in Northern New Jersey. This role focuses on preparing accurate cost estimates for complex mechanical, electrical, and plumbing projects while supporting bid strategies and value engineering initiatives.

Description
Key Responsibilities for the MEP Estimator
- Review and interpret architectural and engineering plans and specifications.
- Prepare detailed cost estimates, including materials, labor, equipment, and subcontractor costs.
- Perform quantity take-offs using industry-standard estimating software.
- Solicit and evaluate subcontractor and supplier quotes.
- Collaborate with project teams to identify cost-saving opportunities and develop value engineering solutions.
- Assist with bid strategy, scope definition, and proposal development.
- Attend pre-bid meetings, site visits, and client meetings as needed.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of construction materials, methods, and industry trends.
- Coordinate smooth hand-off of awarded projects to project management teams.
Profile
The Successful MEP Estimator Candidate
- Minimum 8 years of estimating experience with a GC or MEP/FP contractor.
- Strong ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.
- Experience in public sector projects.
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering (Mechanical Engineering or 10+ years' experience preferred).
- Professional certifications such as PMP, PE, or Architecture License are a plus.
- Detail-oriented, analytical, and collaborative with excellent communication skills.
