Project Manager - Public Works Construction

$110,000 - $170,000/Year

The Project Manager - Public Works Construction will manage all aspects of large-scale civic and public works building and construction projects in Los Angeles, from preconstruction through closeout, including budgeting, scheduling, risk management, and quality control. Lead teams, coordinate with clients and subcontractors, and ensure projects are completed safely, on time, and within budget.

Description

Key responsibilities of the Project Manager - Public Works Construction include:

  • Manage all project phases from preconstruction through closeout, including budgeting, scheduling, and contract management.
  • Lead and mentor project teams, coordinating with superintendents, subcontractors, and Los Angeles and Orange County based clients.
  • Conduct risk management and ensure compliance with safety and quality standards.
  • Perform constructability reviews, value engineering, and preconstruction planning.
  • Oversee financial reporting, change orders, and project documentation.
  • Manage building and construction project closeout, including punch lists, as-builts, warranties, and final payments.

Profile

The successful Project Manager - Public Works Construction candidate will have:

  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
  • Over 2 years of experience managing large-scale civic or public works projects from start to finish.
  • Proven ability to lead teams, build relationships, and collaborate effectively with clients and subcontractors.
  • Strong skills in budgeting, scheduling (P6), and project financial management.
  • High attention to detail with excellent communication, negotiation, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Experienced in QA/QC, risk management, safety compliance, and using BIM and Microsoft Office tools.
