Quality Engineer- Automotive- Mt. Vernon, NY
The Quality Engineer will be responsible for managing quality systems, conducting audits, and leading initiatives such as APQP, PPAP, and continual improvement projects within a precision manufacturing environment. The role requires strong knowledge of automotive quality standards, GD&T, and proficiency with AIAG tools to ensure compliance and customer satisfaction.

Description
- Manage quality processes including NCRs (Customer, In-Process, Vendor) and ensure accurate dispositions and documentation.
- Lead quality meetings, contract reviews, and APQP processes for new or potential products.
- Develop and maintain key quality tools such as PFMEA, control plans, SPC charts, and IMDS documentation.
- Prepare and assemble PPAP packages, FAIs, capability studies, and material certifications.
- Conduct feasibility assessments, review customer prints, and ensure compliance with customer and industry standards (ASTM, ISO, IATF).
- Drive continual improvement projects and monitor safe launch concepts for new products.
- Respond to customer inquiries and complaints, providing timely resolutions and technical support.
- Utilize AIAG tools and quality methodologies (FMEA, MSA, SPC, PPAP) while supporting audits and compliance initiatives.
Profile
- Holds a BS degree in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering.
- Brings 3-5 years of experience in automotive manufacturing environments.
- Demonstrates strong knowledge of GD&T and familiarity with AIAG tools (FMEA, MSA, SPC, PPAP).
- Possesses certifications such as IATF 16949:2016 or VDA 6.3 Auditor (preferred) and Six Sigma Green/BlackBelt (preferred).
- Exhibits strong math, analytical, and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
- Organized and proficient in Microsoft Excel and Access for data analysis and reporting.
- Skilled in quality methodologies including Layered Process Audits, Lean Manufacturing, 5S, and 8D Analysis.
- Effective communicator with customer service experience and ability to manage inquiries and complaints professionally.
