Construction Manager

The Construction Manager will play a central role in all phases of construction: pre‑construction, scheduling, procurement, on‑site execution, quality control, safety, and close‑out. You'll work directly with the owner, architects/designers, subcontractors, vendors, and municipalities. My client are seeking someone who is ambitious and eager to learn.

Client Details

My client are a boutique owner/builder in Silver Lake focused on delivering high‑quality, design‑led residential projects. They value craftsmanship, deep attention to detail, collaborative relationships, and a hands‑on approach. As they grow, they are looking to bring on a Construction Manager who can bridge between our subcontractor roots and general contracting standards, help raise our operational capacity, and ensure projects are delivered on time, on budget, and with high quality.

Description

  • Oversee all phases of construction from pre‑construction to completion for residential projects in Altadena, Silver Lake and nearby LA neighborhoods.
  • Manage and coordinate subcontractors, vendors, and trades: bidding, contracts, scope, deliverables, schedule, and performance.
  • Create, maintain, and update project schedules; track milestones and lead times; anticipate and mitigate delays.
  • Manage budgets, monitor costs vs. actuals, approve purchase orders, respond to change orders, maintain financial discipline.
  • Ensure all work meets design intent, building codes, inspection requirements, safety standards, and quality expectations.
  • Conduct frequent on‑site inspections and oversight; enforce safety protocols and best practices.
  • Liaise with city departments, permitting authorities, inspections, utilities; ensure regulatory compliance.
  • Maintain project documentation: daily logs, RFIs/submittals, shop drawings, as‑built drawings, close‑out, punch lists.
  • Foster clear communication with owner, design team, subcontractors, and clients; proactively surface issues and propose solutions.

Profile

  • Several years of experience in a construction project management role.
  • Experience with residential construction: framing, finishes, systems, inspections.
  • Good understanding of local LA building codes, permitting, inspections.
  • Strong organizational, scheduling, budgeting, and problem‑solving skills.
  • Able to manage multiple moving parts and projects; comfortable making decisions under pressure.
  • Excellent communication, both verbal and written; able to work collaboratively with designers, tradespeople, clients.

Job Offer
