Controller
The client are looking for a Controller to oversee the day-to-day accounting operations and financial reporting for the organization. They are a Music and media company that are are looking for a candidate with prior experience in small to medium sized companies as a Controller. The head office is based in Midtown (Manhattan).
Client Details
The company are a group of global record labels and music publishers that are headquartered here in the US. The role will oversee the day to day accounting operations for the company and will report directly into the CFO. The successful candidate will also be managing a team of 7 candidates, whilst mainly focusing on the monthly close and financial reporting for the company.
Description
The successful Controller will:
- Oversee daily accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll functions.
- Prepare and analyze financial statements to ensure accuracy and compliance with reporting standards.
- Develop and implement financial policies, procedures, and controls.
- Manage budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis processes.
- Collaborate with internal and external auditors to maintain compliance and address audit findings.
- Supervise and mentor the accounting team to foster professional growth and development.
- Evaluate financial performance and provide insights to support strategic decision-making.
- Coordinate with other departments to streamline financial processes and improve efficiency.
Profile
A successful Controller should have:
- Approximately 5 (or more years) of experience as a Controller
- Prior working knowledge of the music industry (desirable, not essential)
- A Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Proven expertise in financial reporting and compliance standards.
- Strong leadership and team management skills.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Proficiency in relevant accounting software and tools.
- A track record of successful collaboration across departments.
