My client is seeking a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to lead the design and development of advanced mechanical components and systems. Description
The Senior Mechanical Design Engineer will be involved with:
- Mechanical Design: Create detailed 3D models and engineering drawings using SolidWorks, adhering to ASME Y14.5 standards.
- Design for Manufacturability: Apply DFMA principles to ensure designs are optimized for production, including tooling and fixture development.
- Component Innovation: Design, analyze, and prototype mechanical components for mission-critical applications.
- Material & Tolerance Selection: Recommend appropriate materials, finishes, tolerances, and GD&T to meet design and performance goals.
- Engineering Analysis: Conduct advanced calculations (e.g., strength, pressure, effective area) and perform Finite Element Analysis (FEA).
- Design Review & Documentation: Lead design reviews and manage engineering change orders (ECOs).
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with engineering, manufacturing, and quality teams to deliver robust design solutions.

Profile
A successful Senior Mechanical Design Engineer should have the following qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field (required).
- Minimum 5 years of mechanical design experience in a manufacturing environment.
- At least 2 years of hands-on experience with SolidWorks and Product Data Management (PDM).
- Formal training in 3D modeling, FEA, CFD, and thermal analysis.
- Bonus skills: Experience with Model-Based Definition (MBD), DriveWorks, and Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) systems.
