Junior Accountant
Our client, a well-established nonprofit based in Manhattan, is looking for a Junior Accountant. This is a temp to perm role, and the successful candidate will have 1+ year of experience with journal entries & month-close & be immediately available to start a new role.
Client Details
Well-established nonprofit based in Manhattan. This role is 5 days per week in office at the beginning but offers 1 day from home once permanent and offers an individual with payroll experience or interest in learning payroll a chance to join a collaborative team at a stable nonprofit.
Description
This role will involve you to:
• Process payroll on a biweekly basis
• Prepare & upload deduction files securely to providers
• Maintain payroll records, deductions, and benefits tracking
• Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll tax regulations
• Reconcile payroll to the general ledger
• Quarterly reconciliation of form 941
• Processing year-end W-2
• Prepare and post journal entries
• Assist with month-end and year-end close
• Support audits and respond to payroll-related inquiries
• Collaborate with HR on employee data changes
Profile
The successful candidate will have:
• 1+ year of accounting experience required (journal entries, month-close)
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
• Willingness to learn payroll or have experience with payroll
• Hands-on experience with Excel, Great Plains & UKG preferred
• High attention to detail and accuracy
