AVP/VP Aviation Credit Risk
A global financial institution is seeking an AVP or VP level Credit Risk Officer to support the evaluation and ongoing management of an Aviation Finance portfolio. This individual will assess credit risk for airlines, aircraft leasing companies, and aviation-related counterparties across a range of secured and unsecured lending structures.

Key Responsibilities
- Perform comprehensive credit assessments for new and existing aviation counterparties, including airlines, aircraft lessors, and related entities
- Analyze financial statements, fleet composition, cash flow profiles, operating metrics, and industry risk factors
- Review and approve credit requests, including bilateral loans, revolvers, term facilities, and structured aviation transactions
- Partner closely with front-office bankers to evaluate deal structures, collateral, pricing, and risk-adjusted returns
- Monitor portfolio performance, track early warning indicators, and maintain close oversight of higher-risk exposures
- Prepare detailed credit memos and present recommendations to senior credit committees
- Collaborate with legal, risk, and operations teams to ensure transactions adhere to internal policies and regulatory requirements
- Stay abreast of global aviation trends including fuel volatility, traffic patterns, regulatory developments, and macroeconomic drivers
- Support stress testing, portfolio reviews, and periodic risk reporting
Profile
The ideal candidate has a strong credit foundation - whether from corporate credit, transportation finance, or a related industry, and an interest in deepening expertise within the aviation sector.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree required; advanced degree or industry certifications a plus
- 4-10 years of experience in credit risk, corporate underwriting, transportation finance, or structured lending
- Strong credit analysis, financial modeling, and written communication skills
- Experience assessing complex financial statements and capital structures
- Aviation sector knowledge preferred but not required
- Ability to synthesize large amounts of data into clear, actionable recommendations
- Strong partnership and stakeholder management capabilities
