Senior Estimator, Sitework Contractor
The Senior Estimator will take ownership of complex estimates, mentor junior estimating staff, and contribute to bid strategy development across public and private sector work.

My client is a well‑established, full‑service site and heavy civil contractor serving public and private sector clients throughout Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and Delaware. With decades of experience, they deliver complex infrastructure, utility, and site development projects through extensive in‑house capabilities including excavation, earthmoving, heavy highway work, underground utilities, demolition, and material hauling. - Lead the preparation of detailed, accurate cost estimates for heavy civil, site development, underground utility, demolition, and infrastructure projects.
- Review drawings, specifications, and bid documents to develop comprehensive scopes of work and pricing strategies.
- Perform quantity take‑offs and pricing utilizing historical data, production rates, vendor quotes, and in‑house self‑perform capabilities.
- Solicit, analyze, and level subcontractor and supplier bids, ensuring scope coverage and alignment with project requirements.
- Collaborate with project managers, superintendents, and executive leadership to develop bid strategies, assess project risks, and identify value‑engineering opportunities.
- Participate in bid reviews and presentations, clearly communicating assumptions, risks, and cost drivers.
- Maintain and update cost databases, unit pricing, and estimating tools to support accuracy and consistency.
- Support change order pricing during preconstruction and transition of awarded projects to operations teams.
- Mentor and guide junior estimators and support staff, promoting best practices and continuous improvement within the estimating department.
- Stay current on market conditions, material pricing, labor trends, and regional subcontractor availability.
Profile
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- 8+ years of estimating experience within heavy civil, site development, infrastructure, or utility construction.
- Proven experience estimating self‑perform work including excavation, earthwork, utilities, and related scopes.
- Strong understanding of public sector bidding, including DOT, municipal, and agency projects, as well as private development work.
- Proficiency with estimating software, spreadsheets, and digital take‑off tools.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple bids simultaneously while meeting strict deadlines.
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively across preconstruction and operations teams.
