Senior Electrical Engineer | Design Work | PCB

$120,000 - $200,000/Year

The role focuses on resolving electrical issues found in development, manufacturing, and the field, while contributing to design improvements, cost reduction efforts, and preparation for entry into the EU market. You will work closely with hardware, firmware, manufacturing, and supplier teams in the US and Asia to improve system reliability and performance.

Company is a privately held, U.S.-based fitness technology company specializing in high‑end, interactive, in‑home excercise machines.

Description

  • Contribute to the development of new products and the enhancement of existing designs, including efforts focused on improving reliability and reducing cost.
  • Diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve issues encountered in production and in the field.
  • Perform electrical design tasks such as schematic creation, PCB layout, and bill‑of‑materials management.
  • Travel to manufacturing partners in Asia as required to support development and production activities.
  • Assist with EMC and safety certification processes to meet regulatory standards in the US and EU.

Profile

Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience developing electronic systems in consumer or medical device industries.
  • Proven ability to approach challenges with creativity and strong problem‑solving skills.
  • Excellent analytical and organizational capabilities, with strong communication skills for both technical and non‑technical audiences, along with consistent, thorough documentation habits.
  • Ability to operate effectively both independently and within a small team, take ownership of technical issues, and contribute across functions to keep projects moving forward.
  • Hands-on experience with electronics assembly, rework, and repair.
  • Proficient in bringing up and debugging electrical designs using standard laboratory tools and instrumentation.
  • Experience integrating electronic components into complex mechanical assemblies.
  • Skilled in PCB design, including schematic capture and layout, using tools such as KiCad or Altium.
  • Familiarity with certification and compliance testing processes.
Preferred Experience
  • Experience with BLDC motor drive systems and eddy current braking technologies.
  • Background working with a range of sensor technologies (e.g., encoders, load cells, thermocouples).
  • Knowledge of high-voltage system design (up to 400 VDC) and safety‑isolation practices.
  • Experience developing firmware prototypes in C and using scripting languages (e.g., Python, MATLAB) for data processing and analysis.
  • Understanding of thermal management techniques for electronic systems.
