The Assistant Project Manager (APM) will support the project management team in delivering high-end residential interior projects from preconstruction through closeout. This role provides hands-on exposure to luxury construction processes and is ideal for someone looking to grow into a lead PM role while working on sophisticated, design-driven projects.

Our client is an established New York City-based General Contractor specializing in single‑family high-end residential interiors, including luxury penthouses, large apartments, and historic brownstones across Manhattan. They are known for meticulous detail, architect‑driven builds, and a commitment to excellence in craftsmanship and client service.

Description

As an Assistant Project Manager, you will be responsible for:

  • Assist Project Manager with overall project coordination and documentation
  • Support budget tracking, cost management, and subcontractor invoices
  • Prepare and maintain project schedules, logs, and meeting minutes
  • Coordinate material procurement, lead times, and delivery verification
  • Manage RFI and submittal processes in collaboration with design teams
  • Help ensure adherence to project specifications, drawings, and quality standards
  • Conduct site walkthroughs to support issue tracking and punch list updates
  • Communicate with architects, designers, subcontractors, and vendors
  • Support project closeout, turnover documentation, and warranty processes
  • Provide administrative and organizational support to keep projects on track

Profile

A successful Assistant Project Manager should have:

  • 2-5+ years of experience in residential construction in New York, New York
  • Prior exposure to high-end interiors: penthouses, townhomes, or luxury apartments
  • Strong understanding of finishes, materials, and construction sequencing
  • Experience handling RFIs, submittals, purchase orders, or cost logs
  • Ability to read and interpret architectural and engineering drawings
  • Tech savvy: experience with construction management software a plus
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills
  • Detail-oriented mindset and passion for premium craftsmanship
  • Team-oriented and eager to grow into a full PM role
