People Operations - Onsite NYC - Start Up
We're looking for a people operations expert who can blend strategic thinking with hands-on execution. The ideal profile is someone who has worn many hats - Chief of Staff, Operations Manager, Business Generalist - and is passionate about building a people function. Experience at a start up is required along with onboarding, offboarding, payroll and benefits expertise. Onsite in NYC, up to $200K.

Our client is an early-stage, global high‑growth tech start‑up. This person will be owning the people function to support the highly valued employee population as the team continues to scale globally. Description
- Own the full employee lifecycle (recruiting, onboarding, payroll, benefits)
- Build thoughtful, scalable people programs that promote high performance and psychological safety
- Design and implement operational systems that enable clarity, communication, and speed
- Serve as the connective tissue across teams, removing friction and optimizing workflows
- Partner with leadership to support strategic planning, OKRs, and cross-team alignment
- Build dashboards, processes, and documentation that support long-term scalability
Profile
- 7+ years of experience
- Previous experience in a fast-paced, ambiguous start‑up environment required
- Experience working in other areas of a start-up (business, strategy, etc.) highly preferred
- Loves supporting people, solving cross-functional problems, and building structure
- Thrives as both a strategic partner and a hands-on builder
- Comfort with ambiguity, experimentation, and getting things done quickly
- Able to go into the NYC office 4 or 5 days a week
