The Payroll Specialist will manage payroll operations, ensuring accuracy and compliance with all relevant regulations. This role in the Non Profit sector is ideal for detail-oriented professionals with expertise in accounting and finance.

Description

  • Process payroll accurately and on time for employees, ensuring compliance with applicable laws and company policies.
  • Maintain and update employee payroll records, including deductions, benefits, and tax information.
  • Prepare and submit payroll-related reports to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with the accounting & finance department on payroll reconciliations and audits.
  • Address employee inquiries regarding payroll and resolve discrepancies promptly.
  • Stay updated on payroll regulations and implement changes as needed to remain compliant.
  • Support year-end reporting processes, including tax forms and summaries.
  • Contribute to process improvements for greater efficiency in payroll administration.

Profile

A successful Payroll Specialist should have:

  • Associate's Degree in Accounting or Business Management required; Bachelor's Degree preferred.
  • Must have a minimum of 2 years of general accounting and payroll experience including knowledge of General Ledger Accounts and practices.
  • Experience with integrated accounting systems as well as web-based Payroll, Time and Attendance, and related software required; demonstrate knowledge of Paylocity, Colleague, Kronos, Nextgen, and Docuware strongly preferred.
  • The ideal candidate will have an understanding of union payroll procedures.
  • Advanced Excel ability including proficiency with pivot tables and V-Lookup formulas is required.
  • Must have knowledge of Microsoft Word, Google Suite, and Adobe Acrobat, and demonstrate strong organizational, analytical, and verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills including the ability to communicate effectively and work with students, faculty, and staff from diverse backgrounds are essential.
