Supply Planning Manager

The Supply Planning Manager will oversee Planning processes within the fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) industry, ensuring efficiency and effectiveness across operations. This role requires a proactive approach to managing resources, building supplier relationships, and optimizing supply chain strategies.

Description

  • Prioritizes production based on supply chain deficits, product demand and sales forecasts.
  • Drives planning continuous improvement plans where necessary, liaise with pertinent support organizations and groups to tweak, and develop business processes where required, streamline operations and tools.
  • Manages SKU inventory levels within established targets to prevent stock-outs and overstock situations, especially during product transitions (promotional packaging, new items or phase out items).
  • Highlight potential future issues from the demand and supply picture and lead the team in developing an action plan.
  • Ensure finished goods inventory target levels are maintained and are constantly challenged and revised to deliver cost savings.
  • Monitor site/supply performance against KPIs. Identify and understand trends in performance & identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Analyze key KPI's and financial data to identify performance and cost improvement opportunities.
  • Manage processes to deliver the defined working capital targets for finished goods, minimizing stock obsolescence.
  • Maintain collaborative relationships with new and existing suppliers
  • Collaborates with other departments and leadership to identify and develop needs and requirements for materials, products, equipment, etc.
  • Propose and implement improvements to the current purchasing and planning systems that will improve site delivery, inventory, and procurement metrics
  • Take the lead in creating profitable ways to manage obsolete and slow moving stock
  • Responsible for managing site Rough Cut Capacity Planning (RCCP), Sales and Operations Planning (S&OP) supply management, and site supply Integrated Supply Planning (IBP) inputs.
  • Lead SAP system processes and accuracy of data management

Profile

A successful Supply Planning Manager should have:

  • Develop and lead a team of planners
  • Foster an environment of learning and professional development
  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, or Related Field
  • 3-5 years of managerial experience a plus.
  • Strong background in system planning
  • Experience in plant scheduling and corporate planning
  • Familiarity with SAP (currently using barebones planning functionality)
  • Exposure to advanced planning systems (e.g., APO or similar ERP tools)
  • Mid- to long-range planning capabilities
  • Ability to collaborate on 18-month inventory plans and holding cost strategies
  • Should have a strong Manufacturing, Procurement, and/or Planning background, with strong knowledge around basic planning principles (MRP/DRP, Master Data, Planning Books) and APS system integrations
  • Financial acumen to understand cost drivers and budget management
  • Excellent interpersonal skills both verbal and written.
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills with the ability to handle complex situations.
  • Must have proven time management skills and a good understanding of lean manufacturing and production planning principles.
