Sr. Quality Engineer - Aerospace/Metals - West Chester, PA
My client is seeking a Senior Quality Engineer to support a highly specialized, defense‑focused manufacturing operation by managing quality systems, interpreting complex specifications, and overseeing NDT, materials, and compliance activities. This role offers hands‑on involvement across the full production lifecycle and close partnership with leadership within a small, high‑impact environment.

Description
Key responsibilites for the Senior Quality Engineer are:
- Lead the development, maintenance, and improvement of ISO 9001 and NADCAP quality management systems.
- Interpret and implement Electric Boat, NAVSEA, MIL, AMS, ASTM, and ASME specifications to ensure full compliance across operations.
- Oversee nondestructive testing (NDT) procedures, material certification reviews, and metallurgical specification adherence.
- Review and approve heat treatment, pyrometry (AMS 2750E) documentation, and temperature uniformity surveys.
- Drive root cause analysis, corrective actions, and customer-facing quality resolution through NCMRs and continuous improvement programs.
- Provide cross-functional technical support in forging, CNC machining, manual machining, audits, and quality documentation reviews.
Profile
A successful candidate will have:
- 5+ years of engineering experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment-metals, forging, aerospace, or defense preferred.
- Proven background with ISO 9001, AS9100, NADCAP, or naval quality requirements.
- Strong knowledge of NDT methods, metallurgy, heat treatment, and military/aerospace specifications.
- Ability to read and interpret GD&T, machining drawings, and mill test reports.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and quality management software platforms.
- Quality auditing experience and relevant certifications (Internal or Lead Auditor, NDT Level II preferred).
