Manufacturing Engineer - Aerospace - Buffalo, NY

The company is looking for a proven operations leader to help take their Assembly & Test performance to the next level.
Description
- Develop and optimize manufacturing processes, instructions, and tooling for assembly and test operations.
- Support new product introduction initiatives from early design through production readiness.
- Partner with engineering teams to drive design for manufacturability and testability.
- Build and validate assembly sequences, routings, and process controls.
- Troubleshoot production issues directly on the shop floor.
- Lead or support investigations and corrective actions for nonconformances.
- Implement continuous improvement initiatives to enhance quality, yield, cost, and throughput.
- Support functional, environmental, and acceptance testing activities.
- Maintain process documentation, including FMEAs, control plans, and risk analyses.
- Ensure alignment with aerospace standards and internal quality procedures.
- Participate in tooling selection, equipment justification, and capital improvement efforts.
- Interface with quality teams during audits and product acceptance processes.
Profile
- Bachelor's degree in a related engineering field or 7+ years equivalent experience.
- 2-4 years of experience in manufacturing or production; aerospace or high‑reliability products preferred.
- Understanding of mechanical, electrical, or electromechanical assembly and test operations.
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings, specs, and test documentation.
- Familiarity with lean manufacturing and continuous improvement tools.
- Strong analytical, communication, and teamwork abilities.
- Preferred: experience in aerospace assembly/test, exposure to AS9100/ISO/FAA requirements, knowledge of ERP/MES systems, and proficiency with root‑cause analysis methods.
