Engineering Manager - HVAC Manufacturing - Big Lake, MN

A growing manufacturer near Monticello, MN is hiring an Engineering Manager to lead a multidisciplinary team of Engineers, Designers, and Technicians. This role focuses on driving product and process improvements, supporting new development efforts, resolving field issues, and managing team and project resources to meet technical, regulatory, and business goals.

Client Details

This company is a well-established manufacturer that manufactures products for the HVAC and hydronics industry. They design and build high-efficiency heating solutions for commercial and residential applications across North America.

Description

In this role you will report directly to the Director of Engineering and be responsible for:

  • Managing and implementing technical training for Engineers, Designers, and support staff to build essential skill sets.
  • Ensuring the Engineering team is using appropriate processes and continuously challenging them to improve.
  • Overseeing departmental activities including hiring, performance reviews, and compensation planning.
  • Providing hands-on instruction, mentorship, and career development guidance to team members.
  • Translating customer feedback into actionable direction for engineering efforts to meet performance targets.
  • Ensuring compliance with internal processes and quality standards across all engineering activities.
  • Building and maintaining strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders to ensure service excellence.
  • Driving the execution of new product development strategy through research and innovation efforts.
  • Leading critical engineering projects, monitoring progress, resolving issues, and delivering results on time.
  • Estimating cost, time, and resources for development projects and tracking performance against goals.
  • Collaborating with leadership, production, and marketing teams to evaluate feasibility, costs, and customer demand.
  • Participating in codes and standards committees and delegating related tasks across the team.
  • Ensuring project timelines and deliverables are being met by actively supporting team execution.
  • Guiding teams through product performance, compliance, and scheduling challenges to ensure success.
  • Maintaining open and consistent communication to drive daily alignment and meet key KPIs.
  • Overseeing the design and development of both electronic/software control systems and mechanical platforms for current and future products.

Profile

A successful candidate will have:

  • 3-5 years of experience in an Engineering Management role
  • Strong NPD and product design background
  • LEAN manufacturing skills
  • Boiler, Heat Pump Design, PCB, and HVAC system design skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
