Automation Engineer/Technician - Plastics - NJ (on-site)
Design, develop, and implement automation solutions for molding and assembly operations. Program, install, and maintain robotics and automation systems, including PLCs and HMIs and integrate and optimize Vision Systems for quality inspection and process control. Client Details
My client is a leading custom plastics molding company specializing in blow molding, injection molding, and assembly services. Serving industries including medical, industrial, food and beverage, and consumer goods, they are committed to quality, innovation, and operational excellence. Description
- Design, develop, and implement automation solutions for blow/injection molding and assembly operations.
- Program, install, and maintain robotics and automation systems, including PLCs and HMIs.
- Integrate and optimize Vision Systems for quality inspection and process control.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including engineering, production, and quality to troubleshoot issues and implement continuous improvements.
- Support new product launches and scale up automation capabilities across multiple lines.
- Drive data-based process improvements to reduce cycle times, improve yield, and ensure consistent product quality.
Profile
- 4-year degree in Engineering, Mechatronics, Industrial Automation, or a related field (preferred but not required).
- Flexibility on candidate educational background - title and level will be aligned with experience.
- Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or similar continuous improvement methodologies.
- Experience in plastics manufacturing (blow molding, injection molding, or assembly environments).
- Strong hands-on experience with automation systems, robotics, and control systems.
- Working knowledge of Vision Systems (e.g., Cognex, Keyence, etc.).
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, wiring diagrams, and schematics.
- Excellent problem-solving and project execution skills.
