The Quality Manager will oversee all quality assurance and quality control activities across the manufacturing site. Description
The Quality Manager - Railroad Manufacturing will be responsible for the following:
- Lead and manage the Quality Department, including Quality Engineers, Inspectors, and Technicians.
- Maintain and continuously improve the site's Quality Management System (QMS) in alignment with ISO 9001 and AAR (Association of American Railroads) requirements.
- Oversee all inspection, testing, and auditing activities to ensure compliance with customer and regulatory specifications.
- Drive root cause analysis and implement effective corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) for nonconformances and process deviations.
- Partner with Engineering and Production teams to develop and maintain control plans, FMEAs, and inspection standards.
- Support new product introductions and process validations to ensure quality is built into every stage of production.
- Develop and report key quality metrics (PPM, scrap, rework, audit findings, etc.) and drive improvement initiatives.
- Interface directly with customers and external auditors on quality issues, audits, and performance reviews.
- Manage calibration, documentation control, and supplier quality programs.
- Foster a culture of quality awareness, training, and accountability across all site functions.

Profile
The ideal Quality Manager - Railroad Manufacturing will have the following qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality Management, or related field.
- 5-10+ years of quality management experience in a heavy industrial or railroad manufacturing environment.
- Strong knowledge of AAR, ISO 9001, and related quality system standards.
- Proven track record leading audits and maintaining QMS certifications.
- Experience with welding quality, NDT, and metallurgical inspection a plus.
- Demonstrated success in implementing Lean, Six Sigma, or other continuous improvement methodologies.
- Excellent analytical, communication, and leadership skills.
- Proficiency with quality tools and software (SPC, Minitab, ERP/QMS platforms).
