Project Manager (Public Works) - Construction - Manhattan, NY
Client Details
Our client is a reputable general contractor actively involved in major public works initiatives across New York City. With a growing portfolio tied to high‑profile civic developments, they offer stability, scale, and the opportunity to work on meaningful projects shaping the city.Description
- Manage public works construction projects from preconstruction through closeout.
- Coordinate with agencies, consultants, subcontractors, and internal teams across multiple boroughs.
- Oversee budgets, schedules, RFIs, submittals, change orders, and compliance documentation.
- Ensure adherence to public sector regulations, safety standards, and contract requirements.
- Travel between project sites as required to maintain progress and quality.
Profile
A successful Project Manager should have:
- 5+ years of public works construction experience (open to candidates from GC, CM, or owner-side backgrounds).
- Strong understanding of public-sector processes, compliance, and documentation.
- Proven ability to manage complex, multi-stakeholder projects.
- Highly organized, adaptable, and comfortable working across multiple locations.
- Confident communicator with a proactive, solutions-driven mindset.
