Description
The Senior Estimator is responsible for:
- Preparing detailed electrical estimates for commercial, industrial, and design/build projects
- Reviewing drawings, specifications, and scopes to develop accurate takeoffs and pricing
- Soliciting, evaluating, and negotiating vendor and subcontractor quotations
- Working closely with Project Managers to support bid strategy, budgeting, and project handoff
- Developing bid proposals, inclusions/exclusions, and clarification documents
- Participating in pre‑bid meetings, site walks, and client discussions as needed
- Supporting change order pricing and ongoing cost updates during project execution
- Contributing to process improvement within the estimating department as the team continues to grow
Profile
The right Senior Estimator will have:
- 5+ years of electrical estimating experience or a background as a journeyman electrician transitioning into estimating
- Strong understanding of electrical systems, installation methods, materials, and labor productivity
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and technical specifications
- Proficiency with standard estimating methodologies (conceptual, design/build, detailed takeoffs)
- Excellent communication, organization, and time‑management skills
- Experience collaborating across estimating, operations, and project management teams
- Comfort working in a fast‑paced environment with multiple deadlines
