Senior Estimator
We are seeking an experienced Senior Construction Estimator to lead the estimating function for commercial projects across NYC. This role is critical to our preconstruction efforts and requires deep knowledge of NYC construction costs, subcontractor markets, and commercial building systems. The ideal candidate is both highly technical and collaborative, with the ability to accurately price work while contributing strategic insight during preconstruction.

Our client is a boutique New York City-based general contractor specializing in high-quality commercial construction projects, including corporate interiors, retail, hospitality, and specialty build-outs. Known for our collaborative approach, precision, and attention to detail, we partner closely with architects, designers, and clients to deliver complex projects in demanding urban environments.
Description
- Lead detailed quantity takeoffs and prepare comprehensive cost estimates for commercial projects
- Develop conceptual, schematic, design development, and GMP budgets
- Solicit, analyze, and level subcontractor and supplier bids
- Maintain and strengthen relationships with NYC-area subcontractors and vendors
- Identify scope gaps, risks, and cost-saving opportunities during preconstruction
- Collaborate closely with project management, operations, and leadership teams
- Participate in client and architect meetings to support budgeting and value engineering
- Prepare bid packages, clarifications, and scopes of work
- Track historical cost data and continuously refine pricing accuracy
- Assist with project buyout, contract reviews, and change order pricing as needed

Profile
- 8+ years of estimating experience with a commercial general contractor
- Strong understanding of NYC commercial construction practices and local market conditions
- Proven experience estimating corporate interiors, retail, hospitality, or similar commercial projects
- Expert-level knowledge of construction drawings, specifications, and building systems
- Proficiency with estimating software (e.g., Procore, Sage, Destini, On-Screen Takeoff, or similar)
- Advanced Excel skills
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and organizational skills
- Ability to manage multiple bids and deadlines simultaneously
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or related field preferred
