Staff Accountant
Our client, a luxury goods & jewelry retailer based in Shelton, CT, is looking for an experienced Staff/Senior Accountant. This is a temp role, and the successful candidate will be immediately available to start a new role.
Client Details
Luxury goods & jewelry retailer based in Shelton, CT. This role is 4 days per week in office with 1 from home, and offers a chance to work with a luxury brand known for their craftsmanship for someone with 3+ years of experience & knowledge of SAP.
Description
This role will involve:
- Responsible for the timely financial closing process for month-end and year-end closes and ensuring compliance with IFRS & Group guidelines including journal entries and account reconciliations
- Liaise and advise Maisons and support functions on the appropriate accounting treatment of transactions & business drivers
- Handle fixed asset accounting which includes creating, maintaining, and monitoring related CAPEX reporting
- Review applicable lease agreements for key information
- Accounting for monthly lease contracts including modifications
- Responsible for reviewing the trial balance and providing commentary for variances if necessary
- Participate and support the annual external and internal audits
- Support process improvement projects in line with the business needs driving efficiency and compliance
- Support and participate in ad-hoc Accounting projects
Profile
The successful candidate will have:
- Experience in SAP ERP platform
- Preferred Accounting degree or minor with around 3 years of experience
- Basic understanding of accounting concepts (P&L, Cash Flow and Balance Sheet analysis) and experience in data analytics
- Eagerness to learn and develop accounting skills
- Result-oriented team player and able to work in managing multiple reporting units/maisons environment
- Strong analytical skills with a high level of integrity
- Strong sense of responsibility, self-starter, well organized, able to work independently and under pressure with tight deadlines
- Excel (v-lookups, pivot tables, etc.) and financial system skills
- High proficiency in written and verbal communications
- Good team player with strong collaboration skills
