Accountant (Contract)
This accountant will be responsible for preparing and analyzing financial records, ensuring accuracy, and maintaining compliance with laws and regulations.

A hardware company based in Houston, Texas, specializing in the distribution of industrial tools, building materials, and equipment for commercial and residential projects. They are known for providing reliable products, competitive pricing, and strong customer support to contractors, builders, and local businesses.
Description
- Maintain accurate financial records by setting up accounts and recording transactions in line with legal and internal standards
- Ensure compliance with US GAAP and applicable financial reporting requirements
- Manage accounts receivable by issuing customer invoices and following up on outstanding balances
- Oversee accounts payable by verifying supplier invoices, ensuring accurate system entry, and adhering to agreed payment terms
- Handle the creation, capitalization, and tracking of fixed assets
- Review sales tax accuracy on both supplier and customer invoices
- Support monthly closing activities, including journal entries and reconciliations
- Reconcile company accounts to ensure accuracy of financial data
- Assist with payment preparation in coordination with the Treasury Department
- Provide general accounting support and handle day-to-day and ad hoc tasks as needed
Profile
- Record daily financial transactions and maintain accurate accounting records
- Assist with accounts payable and accounts receivable, including invoicing and payment tracking
- Support monthly and year-end closing processes, including journal entries and reconciliations
- Help ensure compliance with accounting standards and company policies
- Prepare basic financial reports and assist senior accountants with audits and ad hoc tasks
