Chief Estimator - Construction

This is a pivotal leadership role responsible for launching and leading a newly formed estimating department within a fast-growing commercial construction firm. The Chief Estimator will oversee a team of four estimators and take ownership of estimating across high-profile commercial, retail, and financial institution projects up to $50M.

Description

• Team Leadership: Lead the estimating department, overseeing four junior to mid-level estimators

• Estimating: Provide detailed cost estimates for commercial and retail construction projects, including financial institutions (banks), offices, and interior renovations

• Project Management: Collaborate with project managers, owners, and pre-construction teams to deliver accurate, competitive, and timely bids

• Business Development: Support business development by providing conceptual and budget estimates during proposal stages

• Quality Control: Ensure the accuracy, completeness, and competitiveness of all estimates

• Mentorship: Mentor and train the estimating team to build long-term internal capabilities

Profile

• 10+ years of construction estimating experience, with a strong focus on commercial retail and financial institutions (banks)

• Proven track record of delivering estimates on projects up to $50M

• Experienced in both ground-up and renovation work

• Skilled in managing and mentoring teams, with the ability to lead, train, and inspire

• Strong organizational and communication skills

• Collaborative mindset with the ability to work cross-functionally across departments

• Committed, detail-oriented, and ready to step into a high-impact leadership role

Job Offer

• Competitive Base Salary: up to $200K (commensurate with experience)

• Bonus: 25% target, with up to 15% stretch potential
