Description

The Legal Counsel (Temporary/ Contractor converting to permanent employee) will have be responsible for:

• Reviewing, drafting, and negotiating a variety of contracts and legal documents - vendor, SaaS and license agreements.
• Provide legal advice to internal stakeholders on compliance and regulatory matters within the retail industry.
• Assist in managing legal risks and resolving potential disputes.
• Support the legal department in maintaining accurate records and documentation.
• Monitor changes in laws and regulations that may impact the organization.
• Collaborate with external counsel as needed for specialized legal matters.
• Ensure all business practices adhere to applicable laws and company policies.

Profile

The ideal Legal Counsel (Temporary/Contractor) should have demonstrable skills/ experience:

• A Juris Doctor (JD) degree and admission to the NY bar.
• Strong knowledge of contract law (c. 5 years private practice/ in-house handling vendor, SaaS and license agreements, compliance, and regulations.
• Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
• Able to work efficiently at speed, prioritizing matters and updating stakeholders on the status of contracts being reviewed.
• The ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities effectively.
• Attention to detail and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
