Applications Engineer | Automation
This role focuses on developing custom automation concepts, creating quotes and layouts, and supporting sales through technical solution design based on customer requirements. It's ideal for someone with 3-5 years of automation design experience who can handle estimating, project coordination, and hands‑on problem‑solving in a fast‑paced, project‑based environment. Client Details
They are a 60‑person custom automation manufacturer that designs and builds fully bespoke, large‑scale automated systems for a wide range of industrial applications. The environment is fast‑paced, highly technical, and rooted in continuous investment in equipment, technology, and employee growth.
Description
- Review customer requirements, gather missing details, and develop complete technical solutions for custom automation projects.
- Create quotes, budgets, layouts, and supporting documentation that clearly define proposed systems for both internal and external stakeholders.
- Collaborate with sales, engineering, and operations to refine concepts, validate budgets, and support the proposal review process.
- Present technical solutions to customers, support the sales cycle, and release awarded projects into operations.
- Follow projects through build and installation phases, assisting with modification quotes and ensuring alignment with customer expectations.
- Utilize SolidWorks/AutoCAD to model concepts and support design accuracy, costing, and feasibility.
- Manage multiple opportunities at once, balancing estimating, project coordination, and communication with internal teams and customers.
Profile
- 3-5 years of automation, mechanical, or mechatronics design experience.
- Proficiency with SolidWorks and/or AutoCAD.
- Background in custom machinery, capital equipment, or factory automation.
- Comfortable with budgeting, estimating, and supporting project planning.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to work cross‑functionally.
- Team‑oriented and adaptable, with a practical approach to problem‑solving.
- Able to manage multiple projects and timelines in a fast‑paced environment.
Job Offer
- Base salary targeted at 90-100k, with flexibility up to 110k for extensive expereience
- Quarterly bonus structure at roughly 10% tied to defined performance metrics
- 401(k) with safe‑harbor contribution of 3% up to 5%.
- Medical, dental, and vision coverage through Aetna, effective the first of the month after 30 days of employment.
- PTO package aligned with 2-3 weeks for new employees.
