Assistant Fund Controller - Banking - NYC

The Assistant Fund Controller will support the financial operations, reporting, and oversight of the firm's funds.

Client Details

Our client is a well-established investment firm that manages private investment vehicles across multiple strategies. The firm operates with a lean, institutional platform and partners with a diverse investor base. The organization is known for its collaborative culture and emphasis on disciplined financial operations.

Description

  • Support fund accounting and reporting for multiple private investment vehicles (e.g., PE, growth equity, co-investments)
  • Assist with quarterly and annual financial statements, capital account statements, and investor reporting
  • Coordinate with third-party fund administrators, auditors, and tax advisors
  • Review NAV calculations, capital calls, distributions, and waterfall models
  • Assist with management company accounting and expense allocations
  • Support audit and tax processes, including data preparation and review
  • Help improve internal controls, processes, and reporting efficiencies
  • Respond to ad hoc requests from investment, IR, and senior management teams

Profile

A successful Assistant Fund Controller should have:

  • A strong understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting standards.
  • Experience in fund accounting or a related field within the business services industry.
  • Proficiency in relevant accounting software and tools.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills to manage complex financial data.
  • Effective communication skills to collaborate with internal teams and external stakeholders.
  • A bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • A CPA qualification or equivalent is preferred.

Job Offer

  • 5-10 years of experience in fund accounting, fund administration, or public accounting with private funds exposure
  • Strong understanding of private equity or alternative investment fund structures
  • CPA or CPA-track strongly preferred
  • Advanced Excel skills; familiarity with fund accounting systems a plus
  • Detail-oriented, proactive, and comfortable in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work cross-functionally
