Assistant PM - General Contracting-Fredericksburg VA

This role supports a high volume of negotiated construction work, managing projects from early scoping and estimating through execution and close‑out. You'll work closely with clients, walk jobsites, build detailed estimates, and play a hands‑on role across diverse project types.

Description

• Assist managing construction projects from early scoping and estimating through completion and close‑out
• Walk jobs with clients to define scope, assess conditions, and identify risks
• Assist in developing detailed, line‑item estimates using RSMeans and Gordian
• Support and execute a high volume of pre‑negotiated work across multiple active projects
• Take over projects mid‑stream when required and successfully close them out
• Help negotiate and process change orders with clients and stakeholders
• Interface directly with clients, consultants, and internal teams
• Export estimates into contract and legal documentation
• Maintain frequent jobsite visits while remaining primarily office‑based

Profile

• Experience managing construction projects from inception through completion (full or partial lifecycle)
• Background in civil construction, commercial interiors, JOC, or general contracting with estimating exposure is a plus
• Comfortable scoping work, building estimates, and interacting directly with clients
• Experience negotiating change orders and managing project close‑out
• Ability to manage multiple active projects simultaneously
• Field‑based career paths strongly considered; formal degrees not required
