Electronics Lab Automation Engineer - Lawrence , MA
The Electronics Lab Automation Engineer will design, implement, and maintain automated lab systems for testing space-grade electronics. This includes creating software for controlling lab equipment, assembling test setups for off-site radiation testing, and ensuring precise, repeatable measurements. The role requires collaboration across engineering teams and occasional travel to off-site test facilities.

Description
Responsibilities:
- Support design engineers in testing DC/DC converter products for space applications.
- Assemble custom test setups using standard electronics lab equipment for both on-site and off-site use.
- Develop custom software and GUIs in Python for high-speed control and data acquisition.
- Design and build custom PCBs and test fixtures for radiation testing.
- Maintain documentation including setup manuals, user guides, and component source control records.
- Troubleshoot and optimize lab setups to minimize measurement errors and ensure proper grounding.
- Review post-radiation test data and coordinate with external test facilities.
- Occasionally travel to off-site radiation test facilities to support component and system testing.
Profile
Ideal Candidate:
- Bachelor's in Electrical Engineering (MSEE preferred) with 3+ years in power electronics design or lab automation.
- Strong understanding of power electronics, analog circuit testing, and lab equipment (oscilloscopes, DMMs, network analyzers, loads, sources, etc.).
- Experience developing custom software and GUIs in Python, with knowledge of standard lab equipment protocols.
- Familiarity with radiation testing (SEE & TID), electronic component characterization, and component lot control.
- Skilled in troubleshooting power systems and optimizing test setups.
- Experience with modeling and design tools such as Altium, SPICE, Simplis, and Simetrix.
- Excellent communication skills, capable of presenting technical concepts to engineers.
