Sr. Quality Engineer
The Senior Quality Engineer plays a critical role in ensuring that complex metal manufacturing and forging processes meet rigorous quality, certification, and customer requirements. This position supports production, engineering, and leadership teams by providing expertise in quality systems, standards compliance, process improvement, and root‑cause analysis.

My client is a long‑established forged‑metal manufacturer, recognized for more than a century of craftsmanship and expertise in producing high‑quality custom forgings. It operates as part of a larger aerospace and specialty metals group and serves some of the most demanding sectors in the U.S., including military, aerospace, and power‑generation industries. Its forged components support critical applications where reliability, strength, and precision are essential.
Description
The key responsibilities of the Senior Quality Engineer will have:
- Maintain, develop, and improve the organization's Quality Management System (QMS) in alignment with industry certifications (e.g., AS9100, ISO 9001, NADCAP).
- Ensure adherence to internal procedures, customer specifications, and regulatory requirements.
- Lead internal audits, coordinate external audits, and drive corrective actions to closure.
- Partner with engineering and production teams to evaluate and improve forging, material processing, and inspection processes.
- Develop and validate quality plans, inspection criteria, and control methods for new and existing products.
- Perform process capability studies, measurement system analyses (MSA), and statistical process control (SPC).
- Lead investigations into non‑conformances, process failures, or customer‑reported issues.
- Drive structured problem solving (8D, 5‑Why, fishbone diagrams) and ensure long‑term corrective actions are implemented effectively.
- Communicate findings clearly to internal teams and external customers.
- Identify, recommend, and implement improvements in production quality, efficiency, and consistency.
- Utilize Lean and Six Sigma methodologies to reduce waste and optimize processes.
- Provide training and mentorship to quality technicians and junior engineers.

Profile
The successful Senior Quality Engineer will have:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Materials Science, Metallurgy, or related technical field.
- 5+ years of quality engineering experience in manufacturing, metalworking, forging, aerospace, defense, or related industries.
- Strong knowledge of AS9100/ISO 9001 quality systems and related standards.
- Proficiency with GD&T, blueprint reading, and dimensional inspection methods.
- Experience with root‑cause analysis, SPC, MSA, FAI, and process validation.
- Solid understanding of metallurgy, heat treatment, or material processing (preferred).
- Strong analytical, communication, and documentation skills.
