Development Engineer- Medical Device- Newton, MA
We are seeking a motivated Development Engineer to join a medical device organization. The ideal candidate will be responsible for developing and implementing engineering solutions to meet our project requirements, with a particular focus on applications related to medical device implants. This role involves designing and optimizing components that meet stringent regulatory standards and supporting innovation in implantable technologies.
Client Details
The small medical device development team has locations in the Greater Boston area and in China focusing in 3D implantable healthcare products.
Description
- Develop and implement engineering designs to meet project specifications, including components for medical device implants.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure project success and compliance with implantable device requirements.
- Conduct testing and analysis to ensure product functionality, biocompatibility, and quality for implant applications.
- Provide technical support for ongoing projects and resolve engineering challenges related to implantable technologies.
- Participate in the design and development of innovative solutions for medical device implants.
- Maintain clear documentation of processes, validation protocols, and project progress in accordance with regulatory standards.
- Ensure compliance with industry standards, safety regulations, and FDA/ISO requirements for implantable devices.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within the department, focusing on implant design and manufacturing processes.

Profile
A successful Development Engineer should have:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Biomedical, Materials Science, or related field); advanced degree preferred for implantable device expertise.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to address complex challenges in implant design, biocompatibility, and regulatory compliance.
- Hands-on experience with engineering design tools and software (e.g., SolidWorks, Creo, ANSYS) for precision modeling and simulation of implantable components.
- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities, capable of collaborating with cross-functional teams including R&D, regulatory, and manufacturing.
- In-depth knowledge of industry standards and best practices, including FDA regulations, ISO 13485, and ASTM standards for medical implants.
- Proactive and detail-oriented approach to identifying and solving engineering challenges, ensuring patient safety and product reliability.
- Familiarity with materials used in implants (e.g., titanium alloys, PEEK, ceramics) and understanding of sterilization and validation processes is a plus.
