A leading global organization is seeking a Payroll Tax & Compliance Lead to oversee payroll tax operations across North America. This is a high-impact role for a detail-oriented leader with deep knowledge of U.S. and Canadian tax regulations and experience navigating complex payroll environments. Requires 5 days in office in New York, NY

A global organization with a large employee footprint across the U.S. and Canada is seeking a Payroll Tax Compliance Lead to oversee tax reporting, filings, and audits across both countries. This role is ideal for a detail-oriented professional who brings deep expertise in payroll tax regulations and thrives in complex, fast-paced environments. You'll manage a small team, ensure accuracy across all payroll tax processes, and partner with internal stakeholders on continuous improvements.
Description
- Oversee payroll tax compliance and reporting for both U.S. and Canadian operations
- Lead and support a small team responsible for executing day-to-day payroll tax functions
- Manage year-end tax reporting, including W-2s and T4s
- Maintain compliance with multi-jurisdictional tax laws and employment regulations
- Handle account registrations, audits, and government correspondence related to payroll taxes
- Liaise with internal stakeholders and external vendors to ensure accurate reporting and remittance
- Optimize tax processes and support system enhancements within Workday and related tools
Profile
- 8-10+ years of payroll tax compliance experience across U.S. and Canada
- Experience managing or mentoring a team
- Deep familiarity with payroll systems, specifically Workday
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
- Comfort interfacing with senior stakeholders
- FPC certification required; CPP a plus
- Prior experience in large-scale, complex organizations preferred

- Salary: $110,000-$125,000 + annual bonus opportunity
