Maintenance Manager - Electrical - Charleston, SC

The Maintenance Manager directs daily operations to ensure optimal performance of both the department and the manufacturing plant, with a strong focus on electrical systems and controls. This role blends hands-on troubleshooting with strategic oversight, emphasizing electrical engineering expertise to drive reliability and efficiency across all production equipment.

My client, just 30 minutes North of Charleston, develops specialized materials used in a variety of industrial applications, including aerospace and manufacturing. Operating internationally, it emphasizes innovation and high-performance solutions to meet complex technical needs.

Description

You will report to the Plant Manager and be responsible for:

• Leading/facilitating Maintenance meetings

• Driving Lean, TPM, and 5S improvements in the department

• Monitoring WIP, SPI, raw materials, and spare parts

• Establishing schedules and manpower, addressing shortfalls, and implementing RTG actions

• Reviewing Supervisors' standard work

• Coordinating with departments to improve throughput

• Approving requisitions and managing department budgets

• Maintaining visual control of CI boards

• Overseeing and improving Preventative Maintenance and Calibration programs

• Providing oversight of all purchasing activities

• Managing Stockroom, Maintenance, and Purchasing Coordinator personnel

• Driving employee engagement initiatives:

  • Approving merit increases

  • Conducting performance evaluations

  • Initiating employee recognition

  • Monitoring and evaluating training needs

Profile

A successful candidate will have

• Electrical Engineering degree or equivalent
• 3-5+ years of experience in a manufacturing environment
• PLC, servo motor, and motion control familiarity
• Desire to go into management
• Familiarity working with technicians
• Troubleshooting and problem solving skills
