HR Assistant
Provides support in functional areas of a human resources department, which may include recruitment and employment, personnel records, job evaluation, compensation management, benefits administration, organization development and training
Client Details
Our client is a nonprofit organization that provides free civil legal assistance to low-income people in New York City. The community-based organization serves more than 100,000 clients annually.
Description
- Act as the first point of contact for all HR inquiries
- Support the recruiting process by scheduling candidate interviews, liaising with hiring managers & candidates, and processing applications
- Process new hire paperwork and handle employee onboarding
- Facilitate background check and reference check processes for new hires
- Support the HR manager with the performance review process
- Assist with exit interviews
- Assist employees with day-to-day questions about benefits plans
- Monitor new hires, status changes, and terminations as they pertain to benefits eligibility
- Support other HR projects ad events as needed
- Heavy focus on data entry/spreadsheet management/HRIS- queries/new hires entries/file management
- Responding to hr help desk inquiries.
- Ensure timeliness and accuracy of required reporting and fees
- Coordinate daily benefits processing
Profile
- Understands a unionized environment
- Must have non profit experience!!
- Union experience - and worked for organizations with at least 500 employees
- Preferably has Non-Profit experience
- 3-5 years of HR / Benefits experience
- Able to work in a fast paced environment
- Great communication skills
