Standalone HR Manager - 5 days onsite NYC - $100k-$140k
A well-established construction firm in NYC is seeking a Human Resources Manager to lead and drive all HR initiatives in a standalone capacity. This role will serve as a strategic partner to leadership and employees, overseeing a mix of union and non-union staff. Experience in construction is highly preferred.
This position is based in NYC (Midtown) - 5 days a week onsite.
$100k-$140k + bonus and great benefits.

Description
Talent Acquisition & Retention: Own full-cycle recruitment and implement strategies to attract and retain top talent in a competitive market.
Employee Relations: Act as a trusted advisor to employees and management, handling conflict resolution, grievances, and workplace investigations with professionalism and discretion.
Union & Non-Union Workforce Management: Navigate the complexities of a mixed workforce, ensuring compliance with labor laws and fostering positive labor relations.
Performance Management: Develop and drive performance evaluation processes, coaching managers on feedback, development, and career progression.
Diversity, Equity & Inclusion (DE&I): Promote and execute DE&I initiatives that support a more inclusive and engaged workplace.
HR Technology & Systems: Leverage HR technology to streamline processes, maintain compliance, and improve the employee experience.
Culture & Engagement: Champion a positive and dynamic workplace culture, implementing programs that enhance engagement and company morale.
Compliance & Policy Development: Ensure all HR practices align with legal and regulatory requirements while continuously improving internal policies.
Profile
5+ years of HR experience, ideally within construction, manufacturing, or related industries.
Experience working with both union and non-union workforces is highly preferred.
Strong knowledge of employment laws, compliance, and HR best practices in NY.
Proven ability to influence leadership and build strong relationships across all levels of an organization.
Hands-on experience with recruitment, employee relations, and performance management.
Experience implementing HR technology and process improvements is a plus.
Someone capable of handling sensitive conversations with discretion and professionalism.
- Not afraid to speak up-willing to challenge the status quo and offer solutions that drive both business and people-forward decisions.
Able to balance strategic HR initiatives with day-to-day operational responsibilities in a fast-paced, hands-on environment.
